Do you like Reading?

Why not write a Reading Journal.

You are required to write a Journal which consists of 3 pages. The Journal is ONGOING and must be written DURING the reading of your book. You may write Journal entries at any time. All Entries must be written neatly and dated. You may illustrate your responses if appropriate.

Each of the Responses must be included in your JOURNAL.

REFLECTIVE

You may reflect on how you feel while reading a section of the book. Does it make you feel happy, sad, angry and why?

EMPATHY

Did something happen in the book that you can relate to? How did you react? Try to put yourself in the characters shoes and why they felt the way they did.

CHARACTERIZATION

Describe a character from the book e.g. physical characterstics, personality, likes dislikes. Why do you like / dislike the character?

PREDICTION

As you are reading think about what may happen next. Take a guess as to how the story will finally conclude.

RECOUNT

In your own words what has happened in the book? Retell the major details of the story's plot so far.

ANALYTICAL

Are there any words you are unsure of their meaning. List the words and a dictionary meaning. Comment on the style of writing the author uses.
