Internet Educator of the Month Award.

The Internet Educator of the Month - April, 2001

Gigglepotz.com is pleased to announce Pamela Jimison as the winner of the Internet Educator Award for April, 2001.

Pam Jimison is a 4th Grade teacher at Capital Christian Elementary School. Visit her class website.

Pamela has had a great time learning and implementing new ideas for technology in her classroom. The fourth graders started off with joining Flat Stanley. They read the book and hooked up with about 25 schools across the world via the internet to send a Flat Stanley to. The class then received postcards, pictures, journal entries, stamps, money, and even t-shirts!

The class then joined with Giggplepotz.com and hooked up with an Australian buddy class. Here's what Pam says about her Class Connect epals : "We have enjoyed correspondence with Jenny Eather and her 4E class. We exchange e-mail, regular mail, Flat Stanley, goodie packages with specialties from our country, etc. The kids have loved learning about Australia".

"Our 3rd project was to host an internet project of our own. We went through Global Schoolhouse and had schools join with us to write Christmas traditions. We had many countries participate including America, Europe, Slovakia, Africa, Australia, Canada. We were amazed to even have a homeschooled boy from Czech Republic join in on our project. We compared traditions and put a book together to mail to the participants. We e-mailed copies to those who participated. "

Pam also started a class web site this year. She spent the summer learning through on-line tutorials how to write html. Parents can learn about school information, homework, view student work and much more. The site won the Myschoolonline.com Best Site Award the first month on-line.

" It has been exciting to see all the response from parents, students, and other teachers."

"This has been a year of great growth and learning. I find new things on the internet all the time to help with our web site and in the classroom. I even added a teacher help page to my site for new teachers just starting out."

Technology offers a whole new and expanded world to our students, and Pam Jimison as a regular classroom teacher, has done just that!

Congratulations to Pam Jimison - Internet Educator of the Month, April, 2001.
