Description : After reading The Legend of the Poinsettia by Tomie DePaola, we use nine

large red leaf shapes, three green leaf shapes, and several yellow circles

to create our own poinsettias. This activity is a little tricky but the

students are amazed at how beautiful their paper poinsettias look!

We read Jingle, the Christmas Clown, also by Tomie DePaola, for inspiration

in making our Angel Tree. You will have to read the story to see just how it

inspires us! The students receive a piece of regular white copy paper with

the angel pattern already copied on it. They decorate the face and hair. The

receive a piece of pink or blue construction paper to trace the wings. After

they cut out both the angel body and the wings, I staple the two ends of the

angel together to form a type of cylinder and staple the wings in the back

of the cylinder. We receive a lot of compliments on this bulletin board!
