As Sarah and Tom walked off from the old man, they thought about the things he had told them. They realized how far away Australia was from Lakesville. They were so deep in thought that they ran into a tree. Smack!!! As Sarah helped Tom up from the ground, he shouted, "Sarah, there is a tree just like Dad has been looking for all week!". They both realized that this was THE perfect Christmas tree for their home.
They ran home hoping their parents would help them cut it down. Their father was as excited as they were about the tree. The tree was so enormous that they had to ask their neighbors to help load it into the back of the family pickup truck. After struggling to unload the tree at home, they brought it into their home. By this time, their mother had the ornaments ready for decorating. She had also prepared snacks for everyone to enjoy as they decorated the tree. Sarah loved the ham sandwiches. Tom ate plenty of chips and dip. Their dad decided to rest as he drank his eggnog.
Suddenly the doorbell rang! Tom and Sarah ran to answer the door. They were both shocked to discover the seven snowpeople slowly melting on their front porch. |
